- All hunts are done out of the comfort of Final Approach Sport
Utility and/or X’Lander Blinds. We really like these blinds
because it allows us to totally conceal our hunters where there
is little cover. They also keep you out of the wind and dry.
Unlike pit blinds you get to see all the action as the birds work
the decoys. We have had geese actually come within a few
feet over the tops of these blinds before landing.
- I use up to 20 dozen Dave Smith
Decoys. I believe that Dave Smith
Decoys are a huge part to our
success. Amazing realism and their
motion stake system fool even the
wariest of late season geese. Landing
Taverners and Cacklers in the decoys
is a regular occurrence.

The Dave Smith Decoy
- I use Bill Saunders Guide Series Calls.
Bill Saunders makes the most realistic
short reed goose calls anywhere.
Having great sounding calls helps give
me a definite edge.
- On all hunts starting last season, hunters will need to
obtain their goose identification card in order to hunt. This
involves passing a goose identification test. There are
seven sub-species of Canada Geese here in the
Willamette Valley. One of which (the Dusky Canada)
there is a quota for in each county in the permit zone.
Once a quota has been reached, that county is closed to
hunting. Once a hunter shoots a Dusky Canada he may
no longer hunt geese in the NW Permit Zone until the
following season, after he/she passes his/her goose
identification test again. The NW Permit Zone
identification requirements add a twist and challenge to
the hunt. If you do not have your permit card, please
contact us prior to your hunt. We will provide a study
guide and set up an appointment to take the test. Or you
may take the test online. Please Click Here to visit the
testing site. Hunt days are Saturdays, Sundays and
Wednesdays.

September Season- We are
unable to offer you guided
September season goose hunts
because we will be in Alaska
until the end of September. If
you would like a referral, please
email me and I will be in contact
with you.
The Northwest Permit Zone- Located in most Northwest
Counties West of Interstate-5, The NW Permit Zone is the most
regulated goose hunting zone on the planet and makes for a
challenging and rewarding day. There are three different periods
of the season. The ODFW closes the permit zone twice during the
season to allow safe passage for migrating Duskys. One period
Opening in October and ending in November. Another opening in
late November and ending late January and the last period
opening and closing in February. This helps give the birds a rest
and basically Three opening day hunts! The most common goose
harvested in the Permit Zone is the Cackler. Taverners, Lessers
and Honkers are very common as well. Cacklers and Taverners
have a reputation for being very smart and at times hard to decoy.
With our experience and top notch hunting equipment, geese are
often walking around in the decoys before legal shoot time.
Because of the identification requirements, shooting is not allowed
before 8:00 am and after 4:00 pm. Adding yet another challenge
for the hunter. Bag limits include 4 Geese, 2 of which may be
Cacklers, 4 of which may be Taverners, Lessers or Honkers.
Occasionally we have opportunities for snow geese which each
hunter may bag 4. BOOK NOW! Hunt days are limited to
Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays so these dates fill up fast.

The Oregon General Zone- Usually congruent with duck
season, the Oregon General Zone lies on the East side of
Interstate-5. Bag limits differ from the NW Permit Zone, allowing
hunters to bag 4 geese, no more than 1 of which may be a
Cackler. Lessers and Taverners are most common on these
hunts. Be ready for wings cuppin' and feet droppin' on these
hunts. We usually put out a large spread of up to 20 dozen
Dave Smith Decoys, helping the birds feel right at home. Hunt
days are 7 days a week. BOOK NOW! Weekend days go the
fastest so don't wait and give us a call.
